Privacy Policy

Last updated 12 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Lithium ehf. (“Lithium”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use Studio Field — including the Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows apps and the website at studiofield.app.

Who we are

Studio Field is published by Lithium ehf., an Icelandic limited company. We are the data controller for personal data processed in connection with Studio Field.

Teenage Engineering is not affiliated with Lithium ehf. References to OP-1 field describe hardware that Studio Field can work with; Teenage Engineering does not operate this service.

Information we collect

Contact form. If you send a message through studiofield.app, we receive the name, email address, subject, and message you provide, together with basic technical metadata (such as approximate time of submission) needed to deliver and secure the email.

Local app use. Most Studio Field features keep your creative content on your device, or in your own Apple iCloud account when you enable sync on Apple platforms. Browse, backup, restore, Library, and Workspace processing on your device stays local unless you choose a sync or sharing feature described below.

Device connection. When you connect a supported device over USB, file and status information stays on your computer or phone for the features you use. That processing happens locally unless you choose a sync or community feature.

Community features. If you use Tape Club, Forum, or Messages, we process account and community data as described in “Community features” below. That includes content you choose to share with other Studio Field users.

Diagnostics. If Apple or platform tools provide crash or performance reports for builds you install, those reports are handled under Apple’s terms. We may review anonymised diagnostics to improve stability.

Community features

Tape Club, Forum, and Messages are optional community features in Studio Field on Android, Windows, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. You must sign in (Sign in with Google on Android and Windows, or Sign in with Apple on iPhone, iPad, and Mac) and choose a unique @username before posting, commenting, messaging, reporting, or managing your community profile. The same Firebase community account and @username are used across these features on that sign-in method.

Account data. We process your Google or Apple authentication (via Firebase Authentication), a Firebase user ID, your @username, optional profile photo, and related account metadata needed to operate the community features. Google or Apple may provide a name and/or email address (including an Apple private relay address) as part of sign-in; Firebase Authentication may store that account information to keep you signed in. We do not ask you to create a separate password for community features. Sign in with Google on Android and Windows is provided by Google and is also governed by Google’s privacy policy and terms.

Tape Club content. When you upload a tape, we store the audio package and a short preview, plus listing metadata such as title, tags, timestamps, remix links, and save counts. Comments you post on tapes, and reports you submit, are also stored so the feed and moderation tools can work.

Forum content. When you create a forum thread or reply, we store the text, category, timestamps, and your @username so other members can read and participate.

Messages. When you use Messages, we store private conversation metadata and message text between you and another member so the inbox can work. You may also store a personal block list of peers you do not want to message.

Hosting. Community metadata (profiles, posts, comments, forum threads and replies, private messages, reports, and related account data) is stored in Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore. Audio files for shared Tape Club tapes are hosted with Bunny.net (CDN / storage). These providers process data on our behalf to run the features.

Visibility. Shared Tape Club tapes, @usernames, comments, and Forum posts/replies are visible to other people who use the community features. Private Messages are visible to the participants in that conversation (and to moderators if content is reported). Do not upload or send content you do not want others to hear or see.

Deletion. From My profile in the app you can permanently delete your community account. That removes your Tape Club uploads and comments, Forum threads and replies, Messages conversations you participate in, your @username, profile photo, and the Firebase Auth user for this app. Account deletion requires confirming Sign in with Google (Android and Windows) or Sign in with Apple (iPhone, iPad, and Mac) and cannot be undone. You can also follow the steps at studiofield.app/delete-account. Residual copies may remain briefly in backups or caches until they expire (typically within 30 days). We may retain limited moderation records (for example open reports) for a reasonable period where needed to protect the Service or comply with law.

How we use information

To respond to support and other requests you submit through the contact form.

To operate Studio Field, including community features (authentication, Tape Club feed and previews, Forum, Messages, Library saves, comments, reporting, and moderation).

To improve the product, including fixing bugs and understanding reliability of USB, backup, sync, and community features.

To comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect the security of our users and systems — including reviewing reports and removing or blocking abusive accounts where appropriate.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use community or contact-form content for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

iCloud and Apple services

Optional Library, Workspace, or backup sync uses Apple’s CloudKit / iCloud under your Apple ID. Lithium ehf. does not receive the contents of your private iCloud database for advertising. Access is limited to what the app requests to provide the sync features you enable.

Sign in with Apple for community features is provided by Apple and is also governed by Apple’s privacy policy and terms. Your use of iCloud is likewise governed by Apple’s policies.

Service providers

We use service providers to operate parts of Studio Field: email delivery for the contact form; Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore) for community accounts and community data; and Bunny.net for Tape Club audio hosting and delivery.

These providers process information only to provide their services to us, under their own terms and privacy policies, and only as needed for the purposes described in this policy.

Retention

Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and maintain a reasonable support record, unless a longer period is required by law.

Local app data (libraries, backups, preferences) remains on your devices or in your iCloud account until you delete it.

Community account and content data is kept while your account is active, or until you delete specific uploads or your whole community account. We may retain limited records (for example moderation or security logs) for a reasonable period where needed to protect the Service or comply with law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

For community features, you can delete your whole community account from My profile in the app, or use studiofield.app/delete-account.

To exercise rights related to contact-form data or other requests we hold, use the contact form on this website and describe your request.

Children

Studio Field is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it where appropriate.

Cookies and local storage

studiofield.app uses a small local preference (stored in your browser) to remember that you have acknowledged our cookie notice. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers on the site.

If we add optional analytics in the future, we will update this policy and only load non-essential tools after you consent where required.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Studio Field after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
